On September 19, 2026 we will begin a two-week, 108 mile prayer walk led by women through towns along the route of the proposed Constitution Pipeline in New York State.
The Constitution Pipeline is a fracked gas mega-pipeline proposed by the Oklahoma-based Williams Company, which would run from northeast Pennsylvania to Schoharie County, New York. Rejected in 2016 by New York State as a danger to our water, the Constitution Pipeline project has returned to line the pockets of big corporations who want to overturn New York's fracking ban.
The pipeline would cut through 125 miles of forests, wetlands, wild habitats and rural farm communities, providing a corridor of power for AI data centers and deafening compressor stations that cause serious air pollution and acid rain.
The Women's Water Walk, which men (and all) are encouraged to join, will begin at Oquaga Creek State Park near Bainbridge, N.Y. and continue through towns along the proposed pipeline route. Our walk is rooted in prayer and positive action. We will sing as we walk and stop to make offerings at the many rivers, lakes and waterways along our path. We will gather daily to discuss community solutions, actions and legal frameworks to protect our land and water – focusing not only on what we seek to stop, but also on what we are trying to build.
We invite teachers, students, farmers, neighbors, workers, artists, faith leaders, elected representatives and all relations to walk with us. You can walk for a week, a day, or even an hour. One step at a time, we are planting seeds of love, action and change for the generations to come.

3pm - 6:30pm - Welcoming the walkers to SIDNEY at La Patrona, 64-66 Main Street. Singing with Dar Williams, Bethany Yarrow and the Onandoga Women Singers at 4:30 plus a pipeline informational session and community discussion over guacamole and delicious tacos.
DAY 3 - 9/21
10am - meet up and parking at Sidney Moose Lodge 20 E Main St, Sidney, NY 13838 and Wakeman Coffee 66 E Main St, Sidney, NY 13838
4pm - Welcoming the walkers to UNADILLA at The Pines at Covered Bridge Gardens, 1532 Covered Bridge Road. Singing with Uma and Bethany and a pipeline informational meeting with community members. Please feel free to bring potluck refreshments to share with walkers and neighbors.
DAY 4 - 9/22
4pm - Water prayer in FRANKLIN, N.Y. Hosted by Compressor Free Franklin at the home of Jim Hartel, 167 Walley Road.
6pm - Dinner at Open Doors United Methodist Church. This will be a community potluck event with shared songs, words and information about the pipeline.
DAY 6 - 9/24
3:30pm - Welcome event hosted by the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society to their bird sanctuary at 52 Grange Hall Rd. Spur, ONEONTA, NY. Potluck refreshements are welcome with singing, birdwatching and community conversations to follow.
DAY 8 - 9/26
4pm - Full moon celebration at Hartwick College's Pine Lake Center at 1894 Charlotte Creek Road, ONEONTA, New York 13820. There will be gatherings by the sacred fire, prayers at the lake, music by Bonga Jean Baptiste, Bethany, Uma and others, as well as community discussions, a potluck community meal, and pipeline information sessions and presentations.

WHY WE ARE WALKING
We are walking the path of this proposed pipeline through the ancestral territories of the Lenape, Susquehannock, and Haudenosaunee Peoples with a prayer of transformation – to turn this pipeline route into a songline of remembrance of the truths that we hold to be self-evident.
We the People affirm our rights under Article I, Section 19 of the New York State Constitution to clean air, water, and a healthful environment; and under the U.S. Declaration of Independence to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It was 250 years ago, in 1776, that the United States of America came into being based on these principles, nourished by the original beauty and spirit of this land.
We refuse to allow these projects that put profit over life. We choose thriving communities, rich soil, productive farms, abundant fish, waterfalls, wildlife, clean water, healthy air, a stable climate, and the rich biodiversity of our forests.
Our symbol is the blue heron, a sacred water bird of these lands that reminds us of our right to self-determination and how to live in balance – guided by thoughtful, deliberate action. People of all faiths and traditions are invited to walk and join our collective prayer for the water and for all life.
